How We Operate

Strategies

  1. Implementing projects and interventions that build capacities and create opportunities for children with disabilities and other vulnerable children:
    • Provision of Inclusive Classes for children with disabilities and other vulnerable children
    • Implementation of Community Based Rehabilitation focusing on health promotion and physiotherapy, Inclusive Education, Sustainable Livelihoods, Social Participation and Empowerment

We understand that doing all this requires the mobilization of the communities and organizations to do their share of the work. Twatasha Disabled and OVC Organization will establish and maintain good relations with the private and public sector to secure education and livelihood opportunities and raise funds to support the organization's initiatives.

Where We Work

Strategically, Twatasha Disabled and OVC Organization operates in Kafue District of Lusaka Province of Zambia. Specifically, the organization works in high density communities of Kafue district:

  • Mutendere
  • Soloboni
  • Chawama
  • Chanyanya
  • Kafue Estates
  • Shikoswe

The organization also works in Chirundu and Chilanga Districts.

Inclusive education for all

Since 2012, Twatasha Disabled and OVC Organisation has been nurturing and supporting our community’s OVC and persons with disabilities. All of our programs are designed with their best interests in mind. At Twatasha Disabled and OVC Organisation, we provide our youth with the skills they need to thrive in society. Health, Education and HIV/AIDS Management

Making a Difference One Child at a Time

At Twatasha Disabled and OVC Organisation, we strive to provide excellent home based care to persons with disabilities, OVC and HIV/AIDS affected persons and infected persons irrespective of gender, religion or socio-economic background in the Kafue community through our variety of programs. Moreover, we aim to provide cheaper, affordable and accessible education to the OVC and children with disabilities through the construction of a Boarding Special Unit Community Primary School, the first one ever in Kafue. We address key issues like early marriages and reproductive health more especially with girls and women being the primary target. HIV counselling and mitigation strategies are also part of our programme.

Governance, Leadership and Advocacy for human rights

Shaping the Leaders of Tomorrow

Since 2012, we have contributed to the development of children in the greater Kafue area through our wide range of programs. Our programs are centered on instilling strong values into our youth and provides a space for them to expand their mind while meeting new and interesting individuals. This includes:

  • Engagement of both males and females in leadership trainings.
  • Training and promotion of human rights.
  • Engagement of traditional and civil leaders.
  • Training of the Neighbourhood Health Committee in community health planning involved in the community and meeting new and exciting faces from all walks of life.
